The Arcade
Elephant Arcade is a former indoor car park at the bottom of Perronet House, that has been transformed into a retail arcade to rehouse several of the long-standing traders from the now demolished shopping centre.
The arcade is located directly on the former roundabout at the heart of the Elephant and Castle, a short walk from tube and rail stations. Designed by Turner Works Architects in partnership with Southwark Council and Meanwhile Space, Elephant Arcade provides a range affordable retail and F&B units to help transition local traders from their previous premises whilst keeping an anchor in the local community and close to longterm customers.
Elephant Arcade is a friendly and inclusive collective of independent shops, hair salons, a cafe and a juice bar. The spaces are let below market value to help traders establish their business in the new location and build up a new customer base. All traders have access to extensive individual business and marketing support and are encouraged to promote their offer to new audiences. Co-locating retailers, services and a cafe makes Elephant Arcade a mixed offer hub for local residents and passers-by.
